Methodology & sources
Listed pros, contact & rating coverage come from our own directory of 43,420+ HVAC contractors. Each business is counted once, in its home state (resolved from its physical location or address). Coverage percentages show the share of local businesses with a phone number, a website, or at least one public rating.
Heating & cooling degree days are population-weighted from NOAA U.S. Climate Normals. Homeownership is from the U.S. Census Bureau (ACS). Electricity prices are residential averages from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA).
This report aggregates business listings and public data for general information. Figures are estimates based on available coverage and may not represent every contractor in a state. Last updated July 2026.
